As Microsoft
would say: This Behavior Is By Design. (and, yes, they
can't spell
behaviour :-) ). Different screen modes
have
different sets of abilities, and I used the
ones I
wanted.

I normally only develop a program if (a) it
interests me, or (b) someone asked me to. So up to now, I
haven't been developing JSWED.
A Windows port? Well,
I suppose I could look
at doing something with
SDL or wxWindows; I had
been thinking more along
the lines of a GEM port,
which would have
eliminated the mode changes and kept it runnable under pure
DOS.
