Subject: Re: The Time Hole

"Well I do host the original Time Hole on my
website. Should the new version replace the old, or is it
a Special Edition, which should be added to the
list rather than replaced? (like The Continuing
Adventures - Special Edition). Where do you draw the line
between a new revision, a new version, and a new
game?"

Ahh yes, I had forgotten that to be honest, what with
the sparcity (is that a word?) of updates. The coming
version of Time Hole will be called Time Hole - The
Special Edition. However, like Star Wars Special Edition,
it shoul be considered a replacement, rather than a
concurrent product. Of course if you really wanted to leave
Time Hole Mk1 up as a historical document you can do,
but it would rather be wasting space.

"Have
you upgraded The Time Hole to JSW128 v0.04 hacklevel
7? (JSW128 v0.03 hacklevel 6 was the latest version
of JSW128 at the time The Time Hole was originally
released)."

No, there's not much point. All it allows for so far
as I am aware that only allows for screen wipes
(which I have no use for since I've designed all the
screens now) and instant movement between rooms based on
the connection scheme (which I believe is already
correct). Of course, if in the long run it's beneficial to
upgrade it, then I shall do so. right now I'm half way
through testing the game - partly to make sure I haven't
screwed anything up along the way, and partly for the
sheer hell of playing the game again.

"I should
remind every JSW128 author to make sure that they're
basing their new games on v0.04 hacklevel 7."

I
have a couple of game ideas in limbo right now. One
hasn't even begun yet, because it needs a lot of Geoff
Eddie type stuff, and that's not possible right now.
The other is on v0.04 already, until such time as a
more advanced model of JSWED comes out.
