Subject: synthetic vs. natural
that's an interesting scale on which to measure
screen design. i'm going through a heavily synthetic
phase with 'strangel' (this may be the most 'synthetic'
looking JSW game made yet, along with geoff's games), but
'death tv' is interesting because the screens are
supposed to represent a physical 'movie set' kind of
thing. with WW i think i started off very naturalist
(the moorlands, the first caves, sewers, the tree and
the tower section), but gets fairly synthetic the
further down into the ground you go.
we pretty
seems to be a mixture, as it has 'real' locations such
as a beach, bridge, etc, but it also has totally
abstract screens, and some parts of the 'real' screens
have odd looking bits to them.
i agree that
adban gets the award for the most consistantly
natural-looking screen designs, though.
