""The Journey Home" (my other JSW game) has a different feel to other
JSW games. What do other authors feel about "one-way" type games? I
haven't come across any yet.""
Well, Sendy had a game going for a while, called Brain Eaters or
something, which was to be one-way (I think he abandoned it because
he felt he might as well do it as a Manic Miner game), and Willy's
New Hat and Lord Of The Rings are pseudo-one-way, with varying
degrees of success
""The downside is I think it doesn't allow for much freedom of
exploration but it adds a certain element of adventure to it. Try and
imagine something like Ghosts 'n Goblins in JSW format ;)""
It's certainly an odd thought
"""Willy vs The Blair Witch" is coming along nicely.. I'm designing
this whilst trying to update my editor and game engine. It's about 35
screens complete.""
Well, keep at it :)
""Oh, and a friend of mine has been messing around with JSW editing
too and came up with a rather odd game called "Jet Set Maria". It's
unfinnished but he's offered me the file (i think its a SNA) to
upload to my website.. watch this space :)""
Sounds cool to me. Brings back sad memories of the never-to-be-
completed Maria vs Some Bastards though. I was playing that the other
day whilst organising my JSW collection. Really unique game. But
yeah, by all means put it on your site. I'd love to see it :)
Speaking of new/upcoming games, I've been toying with an odd thought
recently. I was basically thinking of taking the C16 version of JSW
and converting it to Spectrum, expanded with the extra rooms from the
Dragon 32 version (if I can find the game roms anywhere - they eluded
me all last night and all the Dragon games sites seem to be dead.
Anyone got them to hand?) and maybe rooms from JSW 2 on the C16.
There's no real reason to it except for the pleasure of reclaiming
those obscure versions of the game for a wider audience on the
Speccy, and even more so just for the hell of it. If I do get round
to it, would anyone care enough for me to put it up on the club?
