Subject: Manic Miner Flickering
Hey ppls!
I've been a member of this group for a few months now, and delight in the
inventivness of the ppl here, and having very fond members of both MM and
JSW from my younger days, I enjoy playing all the new interpretations being
written by you clever people.
However, I have a very interesting question for you, that I hope somebody
can help with. Firstly, let me say I think it's probably down to my
emulator or it's settings (I'm using RealSpectrum 0.97.11 for Windows), but
I'm wondering if it's maybe just a 'feature' of the game.
Okay! Here's the problem. Way back when, when I played MM on my 48K
spectrum hehe, I remember the game being 'super smooth' and very cool it was
too!
However, without fail, every time I play the game emulated, I'm getting
flickering. And I'm not talking just a little, I'm talking loadsa
flickering - Mainly effecting Miner Willy himself, but also noticeable on
most monsters. Levels such as 'Eugene's Lair' are probably worst - the
toliets look like they where drawn as two seperate sprites as they move.
Basically, I'm wondering if there is anything I can do about this, or is it
just a fact of the game and I never noticed it playing on a fuzzy telly!
Many thanks in Advance, and keep up the good work!
Regards
Simon Fraser
