places: going up from "Watch Tower" takes you to "The Off Licence",
and going up from "Rescue Esmerelda" takes you to "Ballroom East".
These are two loose ends that maybe Matthew Smith intended to tie up
by adding two extra rooms above "Watch Tower" and "Rescue
Esmerelda", and didn't get round to it because Software Projects
were rushing him to get JSW released - a rush that resulted in the
need for the four official Software Projects pokes:

which would truly supersede Matthew Smith's original JSW.
There are now over 60 unofficial MM/JSW sequels, but none of them
could ever replace the original MM and JSW. I'm not denying the
validity of these works in any way, but are they "canon" in the
sense of "the works of a writer that have been accepted as
authentic"? No!
George Lucas invented Star Wars. The sixth and final Star Wars film,
_Episode III: Revenge of the Sith_ will be released next year. Only
these six films can be claimed to belong to the Star Wars canon.
A number of Star Wars fans have written novels, or suggested a third
Star Wars trilogy (Episodes VII, VIII and IX) where the Emperor
comes back because he managed to transfer his soul to a clone just
before his body was destroyed at the end of Episode VI. This is even
mentioned on the official Star Wars site, www.starwars.com
George Lucas refuses to make any more Star Wars films after _Revenge
of the Sith_ or to let anyone else make them. If someone else did
make them, would they be canon? No!
"Canon" refers to the right to extend a story beyond what the
original author wrote. C.S. Lewis wrote the seven Chronicles of
Narnia; there can never be an eighth - if anyone else wrote an
eighth Chronicle of Narnia, it wouldn't count.
In 1995, David Bowie released what I consider to be the greatest
album of all time: 1.OUTSIDE. Nine years later, he still hasn't
released the second album in the series, 2.CONTAMINATION. A number
of fans have tried to do Contamination themselves: we now have a
fake track-listing, fake lyrics, a fake inlay, and a fake diary
(Outside came with a diary, like We Pretty and Goodnite Luddite).
These efforts are most intriguing - but they are not canon.
I also question whether the James Bond films that aren't based on
the books by Ian Fleming can truly be considered to be canon.
