Subject: Re: Dr Andrew Broad's List of MM/JSW Games

Hello Everybody,

I let Adam Britton know about my observations regarding Andrew
Broad's excellent list of MM/JSW games, and he has responded, kindly
permitting me to share his views with the Club members. Adam said,
regarding the classification of JSW TCA and TCA-SE:

"It depends on whether you consider the differences significant
enough to warrant consideration as separate games. Personally I
don't. The SE was exactly that - a special edition to fix a few
errors, with a bit of Lucus-style revisionism of a few rooms which
I'm sure not everyone agrees with! For example, I had no problem
removing "The Sky Ladder" for the SE because I honestly didn't think
it added very much to the game. It was a transition screen at best,
and at worst a lazy excuse for a room. I recall Andrew not
particularly liking its exclusion because it lost some atmosphere,
and perhaps he's right, but it was my decision to replace it with
something a bit more involving. Now if I had made Greedo shoot first,
added a musical number to the bar scene and had Darth say "I am your
mother, but this damn mask makes me sound like James Earl Jones" to
Luke, then perhaps you might want to consider it a separate game
entirely. Honestly I'd rather draw attention to more of the other
games being written - I'm amazed at what people have achieved with
them. Rather that than two slightly different versions of the same
game written 20 years ago".

Adam also offered us a piece of very good news about the special
editions of "The Deadly Mission" and "Willy's Holiday":

"I will get around to the other two special editions eventually. I
already started on TDM, though I'm carefully replaying each screen
just to make sure I don't miss anything".

Go ahead, Adam, we'll keep our fingers crossed for you!

Daniel
