Subject: Writing article on MM/JSW scene - comments wanted!
Hey guys,
I have a favor to ask of all the Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy
faithful on this excellent Yahoo! Group. I'm writing an article for a
non-fiction game journalism book by technology publisher O'Reilly, and
I've decided to make it about what happened to Manic Miner and Jet Set
Willy after Matthew Smith disappeared - in other words, all the great
editors, mods, and new versions of his games that you guys are producing.
So, I wondered - if you're interested in being quoted in the article,
please email me at simon at archive dot org, and just introduce
yourself and answer the following questions:
- When Matthew Smith's whereabouts were unknown and you didn't know
where he was - where did you imagine that he'd gone to?
- What new versions of MM/JSW created by fans have you been most
amazed by, and why?
- Why do you care about Manic Miner/Jet Set Willy, in particular? Why
does this one particular game gather such a dedicated fanbase?
Also, Andrew Broad, I was particularly trying to get hold of you -
please email me if you're interested in chatting.
The article needs to be done in the next 7 days or so, so I'd need
responses in before then. If you can help - I really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Simon Carless.
