Subject: DrUnKeN mAsTeRs suggestions for JSWED

 

Well everyone else is doing it, and I know I've made a few in the
past but I figured I'd post a few all at once and in a tidier format
than my usual lump style posts, which only occasionally have
paragraphs.

1) Now I'm sure I've seen this in somebody elses game probably Geoff
Eddie since he has a habit of rewriting the game mechanics
altogether, but Vertical sprites that draw the first 4 frames only on
ascent and the last 4 on descent (or vice versa). Basically vertical
guards that treat up and down as a horizontal sprite treats left and
right (I have no idea what you would call it in the guards type list).

2) Similar to above but a modification on the traditional skylab.
Basically a mono column skylab, so it stays where you place it as
adversed to occupying 4 separate columns per sprite. This would mean
you could put skylabs between several close platforms without the
worry of them smashing into something you've placed before adding
them. Basically a skylab you can add to the room where you please as
adversed to having to build the room to accomodate the skylabs. You
could put in the guards type list as Skylab 2, Skylab Mono, or Skylab
single (just a suggestion). Or maybe just keep the skylab but allow a
choice of 1 to 4 columns per sprite.

3) Lifts.......everybody wants these so no need to drone on about it.

4) Moving platforms.....same as above. But maybe you could make ones
that you have to walk with and ones that you can let go of the
controls for.

5) Null/or non lethal guardians....same as above. Maybe you could
just add a switch on the guard editor to turn the lethality off e.g.
1 for lethal 0 for safe. I know me saying this is fair enough as it's
probably easier said than done.

6) moving holes a la Highway to hell/ the trouble with tribbles
is.... I'm sure everyone wants these too, I've experimented with this
type of thing using invalid arrows, but that can be quite limited.

7) hows about making your eyeball thingy from the clock tower screen
an available sprite type. I know it may be more difficult to do than
the rest, and it's OK me sitting here spitting suggestions at you but
guards that act like that could add some real spice to JSW and make
some insanely difficult rooms especially if you could reduce the
circumference of the guards path. For example you could have 3 moving
in different directions at different speeds on a varied axis. It
would have the effect of those 2D animated solar systems, but would
probably be more impressive :)

8) Same as above but travelling in a square you could call it a cuby
LOL.

9) the one I wanted the most and I know I've suggested this to you
before as I'm pretty sure I got a reply, guards that can collide or
pass each other without killing Willy. once again this could be
implemented with a switch rather than making a new guardian type 1
for solid 0 for (I suppose you could call it gas LOL) gas.

I would add more stuff but I think all the other things I would like
to see have been asked for or suggested by almost everyone else. I
know some of these suggestions may be completely ridiculous or add
stupidly large amounts of hours to your already ongoing JSWED
project, but for me who's programming knowledge never went beyond 48k
BASIC, VB (at a college level), and C++ (which I failed miserably, I
think I got 11% in the exam LOL) it's up to genius people such as
yourself to make these features available to greedy retro addicts
such as myself :)

Another HHHUUUUUGGGGEEEEEE post (I wonder if anyone REALLY takes the
time to read these?).
