Subject: I knew it would come back to haunt me sometime haha

Hello everyone My JSW editing has been foppish to say the least for
the last 2 days.

Let me say why:

Basically at work about 2 or 3 nights ago I found a copy of
Retrogamer issue 19 in the returns at work. I didn't even know my
place of work handled retro gamer as one of our outgoing products. So
since it was in the returns and probably to be destroyed, I liberated
it so to speak. Anyway I flicked through it between packs at work
that night and took it home with me when I left. I'm just a bit
gutted I never picked up the older copies of it, had I have known we
handled retro gamer I'd have been getting it every month since I
started there. Anyway "the classic game" for this month (or maybe
last month since it was in the returns) was Super Metroid on the
SNES, and I thought to myself "Hmmm I never finished that game off".
So I've been playing that and Super Double Dragon for the last 2 days.

Anyway The reason for the title of this post:

I literally knew that rant about modern day game characters would
come back to haunt me. I was drunk when I wrote it, and the sick
thing is I read it again the next day before deleting my many e-
mails. Anyway I happen to know that Mario and Donkey Kong were around
a little longer than Willy (sick thing is I even remember reading an
article about Marios inventer coming up with the idea in the late
70's and basing him on his landlord at the time). I was planning to
write something similar the day after to cover my tracks, but I
thought maybe if I leave it, nobody will notice.

So Daniel you can use that quote if you want but it may make me look
like a bit of an idiot. Maybe I should have said Mario and donkey
kong wouldn't be where they were today if it wasn't for willy. I was
refering slightly more to these characters and modern games in
general, and although maybe badly worded I actually still stick by
what I said. Maybe you could explain on my behalf that I meant modern
characters and the older characters modern guises.

Also:

Hello Skarpo, always nice to see a new face (in a vitual sense I
suppose). I would've helped you out with your blanking of JSW but it
seems Igor has already beaten me to it, so I guess I'll just say
welcome aboard. Also don't feel since you have the tools to make a
new JSW you have to churn them out as quickly as possible, take your
time and enjoy. maybe make a few test files with JSWED just to try
out some new ideas before you put them into a game. Play my first
game "JSW: The DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!!" (a shameless plug here hahaha, and
shamelessly named after myself), to see a rushed game. It took me
about 3 days. I must say it has it' quirks but by self admission it's
a bit naff really. That's why I'm reworking it (slightly). I rushed
the game out so fast (using Paul Rhodes 48k editor, I think I may
have tidied it up with JSWED on the final day) that I ran out of
rooms and stuff before I could finish it properly so I had to tie it
up with what I had (which is a rather nasty trick), in the room "so
you risked you life for this" if you go down or right you fall into
the same pit and lose all your lives (this will be different in the
special edition). Strangly enough (and this goes for everyone) I
never recieved any criticism about this, if I'd done that in one of
my new games I'd have been eaten alive :-)~

Cheers

DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!!
