Subject: Andrew's website updated / Future plans

I have updated my List of MM/JSW Games:
http://geocities.com/andrewbroad/spectrum/willy/list.html

>>>
* The DrUnKeN mAsTeR has released a Special Edition of _The Drunken
Master!!!_, which now warrants a JSW64 entry.

* I have updated the black link of _Jet Set Willy: Mind Control_ to
point to the new web-page that Daniel Gromann has created for it.

* I have updated the black link of Hervé Ast's _Jet Set Willy in
Paris_ to point to the new web-page that Daniel Gromann has created
for it. This version modifies the Finnish translation: the words
in the screen-layouts are changed back to English. Visa-Valtteri
Pimiä's original version of the Finnish translation now has an
entry in JSW128 Titbits.

* I have also updated Future JSW128 Games, JSW64 Titbits and Future
JSW64 Games.
<<<

I intend to add the following pages to my website this year:

* "Nomen Clature: a MM/JSW Glossary" (February)

* "Pokes" (February): a complete list of all known POKEs to the
MM/JSW game-engines. Each effect shall have (if applicable)
corresponding POKEs for Manic Miner (Bug-Byte Edition), Manic
Miner (Software Projects Edition), and Jet Set Willy. This page
shall explain at an assembly-code level how each POKE works, and
dispell any myths (e.g. "POKE 35123,0 removes guardians" - see
Message 4818).

* "Jet Set Willy Room-Format" (March?): the long-awaited companion
to my Manic Miner Room-Format.

* "Patches" (April?): effects which take more than one POKE, and a
systematic method for applying them (TAP files? HEX files? A new
file-format for use with SPECSAISIE?). To begin with, this will
include all the patches I've written for my previous games.

* "How to Design a MM/JSW Game" (September?): detailed guidelines on
all sorts of issues, e.g. managing room-ideas, designing the
geography, different approaches to room-design, thorough
playtesting, diagnosing why a room kills you on entry, &c.

* Now that JSWED has a hex-editor, I should give all memory-addresses
in hexadecimal as well as denary. Unless of course JSWED will
support denary too...

I have no immediate plans to start implementing my next MM/JSW
games. The academic side of MM/JSW is a higher priority for me right
now, along with implementing the patches I'll need for Afrikaan (I
haven't decided whether I'll write Afrikaan next, MM:Outside next,
or write them in parallel).

I hope to be editing games in earnest by the end of 2006. I could
probably get MM:Outside out by the end of 2006; for Afrikaan, 2007
would be a more realistic expectation.
