Subject: Re: Igor. My future with or without JSW creating scene.
Igor, that's terrible news. When I read this (just now 17/4, going over
all of the messages for the past three weeks or so) I was hoping it was
an April fools joke, but since your post is dated the 9th, I suppose
not. Is your decision caused by the negative comments about UMM? They
were very much in the minrity, as most players seemed to love the game.
If you are leaving for personal reasons, or because you feel there is
little else to be achived with JSW/MM, or because you simply want a
rest from the JSW/MM then fair enough, I'm sure we all understand. But
you've been a great friend over the years, and I've really enjoyed your
games, and our e-mails, and I don't doubt I speak for everyone when I
say that the club won't be the same without you.
That said, hopefully you'll still keep in touch, and don't forget your
old mates. And maybe one day release that Half-Life themed JSW that
sounded so fascinating.
And please keep us informed of the progress with the Boulderdash style
game; although not JSW/MM style, I'm sure we'll all be interested in it
(I will!) - and if you can perhaps theme a level in a Miner Willy
style, then it'll be even better!
By the way, have you played Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion? My mate has it
(my rusty ol' PC won't even look at it), and when I saw it I thought of
you, as it seems to be the sort of game you'd love (I remember you
mentioning once how you wanted an open-ended game in a realistic
world), plus your PC should be able to manage it. Aparently it's really
deep, even more so than Morrowind, but you have to be prepared to put
in the time, or yo won't appreciate it. Hmmmm, maybe that's why you're
retiring from JSW-editing - too much time spent playing Oblivion?
Anyway, have fun in your "retirement", and please keep in touch.
Your old mate,
Carl.
