Subject: Andrew's List updated / Igor / DrUnKeN mAsTeR / Daniel

I have just updated 48K JSW Titbits and various Future Games
sections of my List of MM/JSW Games:

I haven't deleted your future games from my list, as I consider such
information important for historical reasons. I have merely
explained that you are taking an indefinite break.

But what about the rerelease of ZX Heroes? This game needs closure,
because I have already played a private beta-version dated 16th
December 2004 which is superior to the latest gamma-release on my
website! (notwithstanding the bugs I told you about in my email of
24th December 2004).

I take it the second release of Ultimate Manic Miner will also be
affected by your break?

I have replaced the entry for _10 of the best_ with individual
entries in the JSW48 and JSW128 Future Games sections as appropriate.

I take it the Down and Out trilogy box-set of special editions will
include fixed versions of the original editions of Skint Willy and
Willy the Rogue? (assuming Still Stealin' is bug-free, not that I've
tested it).

Are you also going to rerelease _Maria on Tour_ in the light of what
Daniel Gromann wrote below?
>>>
A very minor issue for me continues to be (I mentioned it in message
# 5123) the fact the after you gain your twelfth life, you don't see
it any more, because only 11 Marias are shown on the screen. If you
keep gaining lives afterwards, you won't know how many you have
(unless you keep count), because you don't see them, until you have
more than 16 lives, after which the first Maria from the left starts
flickering (because it's displayed twice).

Also, a very minor imperfection is that you can take a shortcut to
the item in "Olde Style kitchen" (10), by jumping onto the leftmost
platform in "West of Olde Style kitchen" (11), as mentioned before
by Sendy and Andrew.

To Daniel Gromann

The following information may interest Daniel vis-à-vis his plans to
send a compilation of final revisions of MM/JSW games to
www.worldofspectrum.org and tzxvault.retrogames.com:

To reclaim some of my website's storage-quota, I have replaced files
that are hosted elsewhere with external links. I have just gone from
using 89% of my 15MB limit to using only 85%.

Of the games that are/were hosted on my website, the following are
/not/ hosted on WOS:
* Bizarre
* Jet-Set Willy (again)
* Jet Set Willy in Paris
* Manic Scribbler
* Maria on Tour
* Maria's Revenge
* Mind Control
* Ultimate Manic Miner
* Willy in Transatlantic Cruise

The following games /are/ hosted on WOS, but not the latest
revisions (according to the timestamps on all the files within the
zip-files - I haven't done full comparisons for all of them):
* Frosya the Cat
* FTB
* Jet Set Emily: Baby On The Go
* Jet Set Willy 5: ZX Heroes (a minor diff. in "TECHNICIAN TED" [13])
* Soul Miner (up to date, but missing Room Guide.html)
* Strangel (the zipped TAP-file seems to be corrupted)
* The DrUnKeN mAsTeR!!!
* The Sun Is No Longer Producing Heat
* The Time Hole (a minor difference in the text-file)

I assert that the above lists are sound but incomplete.

In many other cases I decided to keep hosting the files myself, even
though WOS /does/ have the latest revisions, where I host the files
in formats (SNA/Z80/TAP) that are not hosted on WOS. My policy is to
host the files exactly as the author released them, whereas WOS
tends to sometimes:
(a) convert TAP to TZX;
(b) convert SNA to Z80;
(c) not host emulator-files that they presumably consider to be
redundant (e.g. if a game is released as a TAP-file and an
SNA-file whose data are identical from #8000 onwards);
(d) remove text-files from the zip-files, hosting them as separate
downloads under "Additional material" where they are far less
likely to be downloaded.
