To the best of my memory, no. It's rather a neat puzzle for such an
early stage in my career, if I say so myself :)

As far as I can tell, the topmost (or in other words: third from
the right) item in the room "purple caves, all in my brain" (06)
is impossible to collect without losing a life - you die hitting
the Fire-cells above it :-( .

Keep trying. I'll give you a clue if you need it.

Well, if there /is/ a way to collect that item without sacrificing a
life, then I am completely stumped. I've ruled out invisible cells,
ropes, white guardians collecting it, and John Elliott's teleporter-
extension.

There is no way to jump up for it from standing on the Water-cell in
Row 7, let alone the obvious ones in Row 6. You cannot jump up
against the Earth-cells because the Fire-cells kill you from every
possible angle. There's no possibility of collecting it via inter-
room connections, because of the Fire-cells.

So unless the game-engine is patched, I conclude that it is
impossible to collect that item without sacrificing a life.
