Subject: Completing the original JSW
I remember completing Jet Set Willy on my real Spectrum, using only
the four official Software Projects POKEs that make it completable.

Under emulation it's a different matter, as I am addicted to the use
of RealSpectrum's instant snapshots to get the maximum experience out
of a game in the minimum time (well, not necessarily the /minimum/
time, as I often do a quick exploration from each choice-point of an
unfamiliar JSW game before I select which exit to take in earnest).
Theoretically, the original JSW can be completed with the loss of a
single life, since it is necessary to sacrifice one in "Conservatory
Roof" (with the above POKEs applied).
On good form, I can negotiate "The Nightmare Room" and "The Forgotten
Abbey" unscathed, but it's extremely difficult to get all the items
in "Cold Store" without losing a life!
My best recorded toilet-time for the original JSW is 8:33am, but I
know I can do much better because I have completed JSW64 Variant [,
which is essentially the same as the original JSW, with a toilet-time
of 8:04am. Bad route-planning forced me to climb the East Wall twice
IIRC.
