Subject: A brief update from Daniel
Hello Everyone,
I have been absent from the scene for a few weeks (or has it been
more already?) due to "real world circumstances", which included
finishing a certain stage of my work and moving home to another
hemisphere. I am still in the process of settling in, and probably
it will be a few weeks before I have progressed enough to be able
to think of MM/JSW again.
I did do quite a lot of JSW-related work back in July, when I had
some days off. I meant to tell you all about it, but then the
intense "real life" period came and I never got round to it. Anyway,
it had to do with "Jet Set Willy: The 2005 Megamix SE", which I
expanded significantly and decided to call "JSW: The 2007 Megamix".
As things look now, it looks more likely like it will be "JSW: The
2008 Megamix", which is a problem, because I have no more rooms
left, and I would need to add three more rooms (2008) to the
teleporter section. Well, I'll worry about it when I get down to
editing it again.
In the meantime I also tried to install SPECSAISIE, and I failed
again. The problems I encountered were not covered in any way by
Andrew's explanations. I can't explain it well now, but I will
certainly try again to install it on my brand-new dual core computer
some time in the coming weeks (or months), and then if I fail again,
I will write a detailed explanation and ask Andrew (and everyone
else) for help.
When I got back to my home town, I also dug up my old Timex 48 and
the software tapes, and I have managed to TZX some old programs.
Among them there is a loading screen for JSW which I designed back
in 1988 or thereabouts, and I will include it in "JSW: The 2007/8
Megamix" as an historical curiosity.
Well, I've been going on about my own activities (and the lack
thereof), but what I really want to say is that I am THRILLED with
the Group activity. It is great to see Adban again (well, kind of, I
wasn't in the Club at the time he was active before), it's great to
see Sendy back and know that "Manic Person" and "Role Reversal" will
finally be gamma-released, and it's great to know Drunken Master is
progressing with his projects, too. This gives me a great boost and
makes me want to go back to editing as soon as my life is structured
enough to permit that.
I look forward VERY MUCH to the release of "Manic Person", "JSW:
Role Reversal", "Jet Set Jason in Roddënwald", "The Man Who Sold the
World" and other projects which I hope are in the pipeline, even if
we don't know about them. Keep editing, guys!
Daniel
