Wow - I did set out to create some obscure solutions, but I never
thought of the examples you mention! As the author of the game, I
have thought so hard about the route through each room that I rarely
stop to consider the impossible alternatives (except those that I
throw in to be deliberately deceptive).

You're on the right path; you just need to work out the final details.
