Subject: Re: "Willy and the Dodecahedron" - Daniel's review

Daniel,

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I really enjoyed watching your
RZX, especially when you make mincemeat of the hardest rooms, such as
"Masters of the Rhythmic Paths" (068) and "Aurora Borealis Observation
Rig" (074). :-)

I was also glad that you picked up on the timings I tried to
introduced for the guardians; the idea being that you can sweep
through the rooms if you're confident enough (which you did!).

It's interesting that your speed-run statistics show the game is more
time-intensive than normal. I suspect that's because a portion of the
game involves back-tracking to the central hub.

"Alcheringa" (029) is certainly one of my favourite rooms, although
I'd admit there's an amount of repetition to get the items. For some
reason, I see the Endorians as analogous to the Aboriginal people. I
also see them as elfin; that's why one transforms from a flower in
"The Lawn - Following a Trail" (084).

Yeah, I can see the problem with "Forgotten Endorian Ruins" (027). The
right-hand side of "An Endorian Homestead" (023) suffers from this as
well, although it's on the way back and it's not part of the main
route. The rooms in this level are a bit more "open plan" than the
other rooms.

I'm not really sure what I was attempting to achieve with "The
Islands' Telephone System" (051). I suppose I kept it as a visual gag
- only two islands are connected! (Actually, there's another visual
gag with "The Pirates' Secret Booty Cave" (054) - did you pick up on
that?)

I enjoyed making "Willy and the Dodecahedron". Some of the rooms are a
bit too symmetrical, and I did "ration" features like collapsing
platform and switches, which probably could have been used more
extensively. But generally it turned out as I'd hoped.

I would like to do the sequel, which would probably be called "Willy
Meets the Lemonade Man", but I'd reckon it would be a smaller game
with (ideally) more sophisticated rooms. At the moment, I'm slowly
playing the recent remakes in reverse chronological order. :-)

Anyway, thanks for completing the game!

Stuart.
