Subject: Re: File rescue attempt
Sendy!!!
I have only just read your post and it's made my evening! This is great news and one I have been waiting and (well, almost) praying for a couple of years now. I would scratch those files with my fingernails from that HDD if there were no other way to access them only to help you come back to JSW editing :-) . My great dream is to see "Manic Person" and "JSW: Role Reversal" gamma-released, but it is a minimalistic dream: I remember the "Death TV" tester which was a great preview of another of your games which would surely become a JSW classic. With all your talents and new projects you can move the JSW universe into new dimensions!
Now, here's another bit of encouragement (just in case you need one if the HDD cannot be rescued): we had a great debut of a new JSW author a few weeks ago: Roger North with "What Willy Did Next". Now, the first interesting bit of coincidence (fate?) is that he was heavily influenced by yours and mine "JSW: Mind Control". The other bit is that he has significant programming skills (he's currently working on some novel patch vectors for JSW64). The conclusion: I cannot speak for Roger, obviously, but I wouldn't be surprised if he could and was willing to help you out with creating appropriate loaders for various versions of "Manic Person" and "Role Reversal". And that was actually the thing which stopped those games from being gamma-released, wasn't it?: the loaders. So there, I feel that perhaps this *really* will be a good year for Miner Willy :-) .
So welcome back, Sendy, and please keep us posted on your progress! And even if you can't recover the old files, please don't get discouraged: you have posted "release candidates" of "MP" and "RR" in the past (which I can send you at any time if need be; they're probably in your folder in the Files section anyway) and a "Death TV" tester. I'm sure you can pick your work up from there!
Best wishes,
Daniel
