I should point out that the reason why I suggested checking out the effect of the second graphic byte being drawn to the right of Willy in original JSW, is because the top two graphic bytes of the Fire Toilet in LoTR are blank when the flame is subdued. i.e. in Game Modes 0-2.
And by the time the Fire Toilet is fully blazing in Game Mode 3 - which theoretically could cause an additional glitch to be drawn to Willy's right, because the top two graphic bytes of the Fire contain in-filled pixels - you won't get to see that because, of course, Willy is not drawn to the screen during Game Mode 3.
(Incidentally, there is another undocumented quirky feature on display here: Willy/Frodo disappears, as he falls into the Fire from the top of Mount Doom, when he is eight cell-rows above the Fire - the Low Byte of his attribute coordinates is equal to that of the Fire/Toilet, but the High Byte of his attribute coordinates are pointing to the upper half of the playing area, not the lower half where the Fire is located!)
