Sorry, I forgot to add - the other reason that the final (leftmost) character of air reappears in a brief glitch, when the air supply runs out in JSW64, is because the value of Offset #DF is never decremented below #24 by the 'Decrease the air supply' routine, whilst the value of Offset #E0 will have wrapped round below zero to #FC at the instant when the air runs out (which is interpreted as seven infilled pixels in the final character of air).
