It's great news that Yahoo! does not consider messages to be "content"!
Do you know if what you wrote above actually means that this website will remain in place, i.e. all the messages will still be here and we will be able to post new ones - to the website, not only send e-mails - just as we are still doing right now?
Should this be the case, it would mean for me that almost nothing has changed and the Group can carry on almost as usual! This is because:
- The functionality of uploading files to the Files section (at least of this particular Group, I don't know about the other ones) was removed a long time ago. So nothing will change now in this respect.
- I don't remember when was the last time somebody uploaded photos here. So even if this functionality is now removed, it won't change much in practical terms. Having said that, I don't even know if photos are "content" for Yahoo! or not - perhaps it's still possible to upload them?

I did.
I grabbed all of the messages and all of the photos. I couldn't grab the files from the Files section at this point, because the Files section had been inaccessible for years now.
However, I believe I do have all (or at least: most) of the files that were in the Files section before it stopped being accessible, because I would download files regularly from it after they were uploaded (and have kept all of them).
Having said that, while I will be happy to make them available to people who might be interested for a specific purpose, justified in my view, I wouldn't feel comfortable making these files publicly available for everyone somewhere else. This is because there are various working files, unfinished projects, beta versions, etc. among them and I'm not sure that their authors would want them to be available publicly outside of the Files area of this Group. In fact, in some case the files were uploaded by their authors with a specific condition that they should not be made available outside of the Group.

Much as this Group has been (and hopefully will continue to be) a part of my life, I fully agree with the above suggestion.

It would be great if there was (at least one) really active MM/JSW-related website somewhere, where people would still care to post, discuss things, let the others know about the development of their projects and even work on projects together.
In a sense, it doesn't matter which one it is, the important thing is that there be at least one, IMHO.
JetSet Willy & Manic Miner Community pretty much corresponds to the above description. It is active (especially within the Contributors Group, which is not visible to the general public, though), it has a friendly atmosphere and it has the various functionalities that this Group doesn't, such as uploading files.
So, without discouraging anyone from visiting this Group, I would encourage everyone who is still interested in the subject and is not on JetSet Willy & Manic Miner Community to have a look over there and see if they wouldn't want to register
