I didn't develop the format - that was another member of the SPIN
team, Woody, along with Phil Kendall (author of FUSE).

Some people decided that RZX might just be coaxed into allowing a
person to cheat - having recorded so far, might we not be able to
"rewind" a ways and try again at the difficult bits?

Of course, RZX isn't quite like that at all. However, I found a
loophole in the RZX specification and exploited it - and Rollback was
born. Currently, only SPIN supports it (as that's my main project
aside from BASin) but I have heard that the latest CVS version of FUSE
can now do it too. Those are the only emulators that can at the minute.

It is useful, but we're getting some quite shoddy recordings coming
through, rather than nicely played gaming examples :(
