Thanks for your comments, Andrew. They are very interesting and I
wish I could answer your message properly, having a good look at all
the points you mention and at the Beta version of the Special
Edition 2009 as well. Unfortunately, I am too tired at the moment,
real life taking a heavy toll, and it looks like it will be this way
at least until the weekend.
However, I have downloaded the ZIP file from the RZX Archive,
following the link you gave (http://www.rzxarchive.co.uk/m.php),
puzzled by the fact that there should be a mistake in the labelling
of the versions, making the SE effectively missing. And there is
another puzzle there: as of this moment, the RZX Archive seems to be
hosting only the recordings of the original edition
(http://www.thunderstats.com/download.cgi?
http://www.rzxarchive.co.uk/m/manicmajolie.zip). There are only two
files in the ZIP file ("majolie.rzx" and "majolite.rzx") which is
only 290 KB instead of the announced 498 KB. Strange. I will have to
look into it and contact Daren, or perhaps I'll wait with this until
I have recorded the Special Edition 2009, being able to provide a
complete 6-file set of recordings.
A couple of quick questions and comments right after reading your
message:

That's quite intriguing (I know you like this word :-) ), because I

have always thought it was the only way to solve the room. I mean,
you have to relieve the items of Crumbly because otherwise the white
HG collides with the Crumbly and kills you. If you do that - and you
hardly have time to do it - then it has to collect the items for
you. So what else can you do??? (I'm writing this devoid of energy
necessary to load the game and test the room again).

I guess this means: gross inefficiency! Calling for improvement...

Re-recording the original and the first Special Edition? Perhaps...

should have a good look at it. Perhaps at the weekend, when I'm not
so tired :-( .
